Open day DCU
On Friday 17th of November most of the students in TY went to the Open Day of the DCU to discover the different courses and careers that this college offers to students every year.
We left school around half past nine and we went to DCU, while we were on the bus the teachers gave us sheets and information about the timetables of the talks and the different courses that we could go.
Firstly I went to psychology. I have never been attracted by psychology but I decided to go and see what it was about. Now I certainly know that this career is not for me. The talk wasn’t very boring but I think you have to have a passion for it and I don’t have it. After that we went to Nursing, it was related to medicine and the professor made it very enjoyable. After a break for lunch we changed the topic of our talks and me and other girls decided to go to International Business, it was the best one of all morning without any doubt. I think it’s a very practical career and the options that you have are amazing. In third year of that career you have the opportunity to study one year abroad!
Lastly we went to health and society basically to kill time. It was so so so boring and what the lady told us was that people that choose this career is because they have no idea what they want to be. I think that study health and society is a waste of time and definitely is not for me, but maybe it suits another person.
To conclude I found this day very useful and it gave me another options to think about because thee are a million courses and careers that are amazing and we didn’t know they exist.

DIT Open Day
The 24th of November all TY students went to DIT college. The aim of this trip was to give us a taste of different careers that could interest us in the future. I went to two talks completely different between them. The first was about sports and scholarships, even though I wouldn’t like to study something like that I found it very interesting and it gives you a huge knowledge about how it works.
Secondly I attended to a languages talk. It’s a good career if you want to learn more about other cultures and you’re interested in travelling and meeting new people. I really enjoyed both of the talks but I would prefer to go to DCU because it will suit me better.
