sugar poisoning (home economics project)
Chemistry environmental project
Our last project in chemistry was about topics related to the environment. My group did it about enhanced greenhouse effects, we all did an individual poster but we presented it as a group.
”Everyday chemical reactions”
In February all the students involved in chemistry chose a topic related to something that we wanted to know more about. The project chosen was everyday reactions and we presented as a clock, sticking the different reactions around it.
Biology project (Parkinson disease)
Our second project in Biology was related to the human body. It had to be about an illness that we were interested in and I chose Parkinson as I have relatives that suffer it.
Chemistry project (Dmitri Mendeleev)
The 20 of September we presented our projects in class about our scientist. Mine was Dmitri Mendeleev, a scientist well known for the discovery of the Periodic law and the creation of the Periodic Table of Elements.
Francophonie poster
For French each student had to do a poster about a different country in the world that speaks French. Mine was Vietnam, a country situated in Asia with lots of history.
Recycling (Biology project)
In biology class our assessment in the first term was to do a project about any topic of ecology. I chose recycling. The most important thing was to make it as colorful and visual as possible.
English speech: “ Life in Ireland” by Lucía Aymerich
Everyone of us think that what we have and where we live is the best but when you explore and you live in another cultures you can change your point of view. My name is Lucía and I’m studying for one year in Ireland. I’m from Spain so for us, Spanish people, it isn’t as different as people from other countries. I’m not a professional on this topic but I’m sure lots of people will agree with what I’m going to explain. The first thing that I found more surprising when I first arrived here was that Irish people don’t talk as loudly as we do in Spain. We are known for speaking very loudly and for being noisy so it’s something that we find shocking. As people expect from Irish people I had a clear view of how I thought they were lots of beers, parties and rain everywhere, isn’t it what we all think about Ireland?
I have always had that idea of Ireland but I had never been there and I didn’t know any Irish person as they are just around 5 million people.
I have been here for two months so I can firmly say that “yes, as we all think Irish people drink loads of beers”. They are also very open to people and talkative which I found very similar to Spain but I will say that they are funnier and they love to play jokes and pranks on people. Like everything Ireland is not the perfect world with beautiful sunrises and amazing people, the weather is worse than horrible, as people is say “In Ireland you have the four seasons in one day”, which I completely agree with it. We all knew before we came to Ireland that this is not the best gastronomic place and that Spain is way better according to food, but for my surprise Ireland is not as hard as we think. When we go to a foreign country we need to change our minds and to be open to try new things that’s the way we start enjoying new things. As I said before I had never met an Irish person but I’ve met English ones and when they came to Spain they didn’t try new food because it was strange for them and they didn’t like their appearance. Parents should be encouraging children to live new experiences and to try different things, that’s how I discovered a great country with amazing people and a different culture, but not necessarily worse than mine.
If someone asked me right now would you prefer to be in Spain, my answer will be a big NO and I hope other people will agree with me.

1 Answer each of your questions into your copy based on the result of the experiment
- How much HCL do we need? We thought we will need 100 cm3 but after we did it we realize that we just need 50 cm3
-How much indicator do we need? Initially we used 5 drops but with 2 was enough

3 What did you learn today about acids and bases, neutralization reaction and titrations?
We learned that neutralization is a chemical reaction between an acid and a base and that they react quantitatively with each other.
Titration is a lab method used to identify the unknown concentration of an identified analyte.
